      • data will coming out out of "Sort Rows"
      • add the transformation as a resource (File -> Resources) click create, pick the transformation, add a name, then close the window.
      • go to Data tab, pick "Pentaho Data Integration", click the plus to add new, where it says "file", pick same name as my resource i added, pick my the "Sort step" for my data source, click "Edit Parameter", add my 2 data parameters, do a preview, my data shows up, close the window.
      • Now.. in the data tab, I see my data source under "Pentaho Data Integration: Pentaho Data Integration". The fields are there.
      • I build my report with the fields. save, run the report it looks ok.
      • then after a while (after running the report to test it, or after changing my formation on the element in the report), the fields disappear and an error shows up on the bottom of the screen saying that "Element "references invalid field '<field name> in attribute 'field'. This error is shown for every field in my report.

I can provide screen shots if needed.
