Description
The original JMS Producer and JMS Consumer for JMS 1.1 have been moved to the Deprecated category in Spoon, and they have been renamed "JMS producer (deprecated)" and "JMS consumer (deprecated)". The new steps "JMS Consumer" and "JMS Producer", which follow our newer sub-transformation/windowing consumer paradigm only work for JMS 2.0, and we have many clients who still are using (by no choice of their own) Active MQ 5.x / JMS 1.1. This leaves us in a confusing situation for clients who are naturally opposed to using steps marked as deprecated.
The Pentaho documentation instructs users to use the "Deprecated" steps:
I believe these steps were pre-maturely marked as deprecated. It is true the consumer does not follow the newer windowing/subtransformation pattern, but they are the only way to connect to JMS 1.1. I suggest renaming these steps to "JMS 1.1 Producer (Legacy)" and "JMS 1.1 Consumer (Legacy)," and placing them back in the "Streaming" category of Spoon.
